Naturopathy:
There are two main principles that form the basis for the naturopathic approach:
Let the rules of nature be the guide
Balance the body to maintain health

The first principle acknowledges the wisdom of nature and illustrates respect for the natural healing process in all living things. The second expresses the concept that illness is best treated by rebalancing the body rather than surpressing its symptoms. This can all be summed up as respect for nature and respect for the body. Illness is treated as an expression of some imbalance in the person's life.

Anne's naturopathic cures therefore adhere to these principles of respecting nature and supporting the natural health of the body. Nutritional advice, herbs and massage form the core of her wholistic approach to natural balance while homeopathics and vitamins are also employed to address specific imbalances as needed. Anne also uses iridology, assessing the condition of the coloured part of the eye, in order to make very specific diagnoses as to where in the body imbalances have developed.

Nutrition:

When it comes to natural health nutrition is often one of the most powerful and valuable areas. Not only for treating such well known problems such as diabetes and heart disease but for treating more subtle issues such as emotional imbalances and mood swings. Every function of the body, physical and emotional, is a product of or affected, to some degree, by what we put into our bodies. Therefore nutrional advice features highly in Anne's treatment programs.

Certain principles of nutrition are important for long term health. These are the basic guidelines of healthy eating within a healthy lifestyle. There are also times when Anne will adise on some very specific and sometimes even small changes in a person's diet with the aim of effecting improvement in the short term. The value of iridology as a tool for diagnnosis becomes significant here as it enables Anne to give very personalised nutritional advice to each individual. In this way small changes can lead to significant improvements.

Anne also encourages her clients to develop a general awareness of the principles of healthy eating. She encourages them to enjoy taking responsibility for their own health through the dietry choices that they make. It is here that her natural enthusiasm and pragmatism are most evident as she and her clients devise startegies for personal nutrition within the context of busy, modern day life.

Iridology:

Iridology is the study of the iris of the eye (the coloured area around the pupil) for the purpose of diagnosing general imbalances in the systems of the body and identifying specific parts of the body that require attention. This type of diagnosis is possible because the eye has a reflex connection to every organ and tissue of the body via the nervous system. The condition of the body and the organs are represented by variations in the colour and structure of the fibres in the iris.

In each first session Anne generally takes a highly detailed close up picture of the client's irises. These images are then loaded into the computer and magnified enabling her to read the patterns formed by the structure of the tissues in the irises. This provides valuable information about the condition of the systems of the body such as the lymphatic, nervous and gastrointestinal systems. It also provides information about specific organs such as the liver, gall bladder, heart or stomach.

Iridology, as a diagnostic tool, allows Anne to assess four main areas:
The present condition of the body overall and all organs specifically
The health attributes that the individual has inherited
What health issues the person may be predisposed to with age
The expected time frame for recovery from current illnesses

With the information provided by this iridological approach Anne is then able to make very specific recommendations in relation to dietry adjustments to rebalance systems in the body that are out of balance. She then can also prescribbe very specific herbs, vitamins or homeopathic remedies to address specific problems. Iridology olso provides a method to identify existing weaknesses that have not yet developed symptoms allowing for preventative measures to be taken before a problem develops.

Herbal Medicine:

The principle behind herbal medicine is that nature provides everything we need for health. In particular, any plants synthesize specific substances that are useful to the maintenance of health in humans. Herbal medicine provides the opportunity for people to draw upon the postive qualities of these natural substances to support, restore and rebuild the tissue and energies of the body.

The difference between herbs as medicine and drugs as medicine is that drugs generally supress the symptoms of illness whereas herbs contribute to the rebuilding and rebalancing of the body that subsequently leads to overcoming illness. Herbs therefore support the natural healing processes of the body rather than fighting them.
Herbs can be used to support the body in overcoming many and varied common health issues in various ways such as:
Assisting the body to fight viruses
Assisting to thin the out mucus present during colds and help expel
Generally supporting the immune system to naturally avoid disease
Addressing hormone imbalances as seen in mood swings and PMT

Combined with the general principles of nutrition, herbal medicine provides a way to naturally and powerfully target very specific health issues for each individual. It also provides a way to support the natural balance of the body and strengthen the immune system as part of a general startegy of disease prevention.

Vitamins:

Vitamins supply a concentrated dose of elements that are sometimes insufficient in modern food sources. Therefore they can be helpful as supplements to a healthy diet. They are also very helpful when certain elements in the body are depleted during times of stress when the immune system is often more heavily taxed.
Two vitamins in particular play important roles as part of Anne's approach to health maintenance and restoration:

Vitamin B Complex
Supports and increases the rate of metabolism.
Maintains healthy skin and muscle tone.
Enhances the immune and nervous system function.
Promotes cell growth and division ― including that of the red blood cells that help prevent anemia.

Vitamin C

Improves and strengthens the immune system
Although these are the two main supplements that assist in maintaining the general balance of a healthy body other vitamin supplements are also useful to treat more specific ailments that might develop as a result of stress or illness. Other vitamins are useful over a short period of time to restore the immune system and rebalance the functioning of the body.

Homeopathy:

Homeopathic remedies use natural plant and mineral substances in highly dilluted form to stimulate the bodies curative processes. Anne incorporates some homeopathic remedies into her work. She finds these remedies especially useful when treating children.

Massage:

Remedial massage is one of the most traditional forms of natural therapies. It can be used as a diagnostic tool and as a remedy. Diagnostically massage can assist in identifying tension and toxicity in specific parts of the body. These issues can then be addresed directly through remedial massage techniques or via other naturopathic approaches. Anne also uses remedial massage, where necessary, to relieve general stress from the muscles and to adjust postural issues. These direct changes can assist, along with other naturopathic remedies, with the restoration of balance and energy.
